If you have a scenario in which you need a task to Auto Load a specific line item, when another line item is selected, then this may be the feature you want. Its important to note that the item that will be auto loaded will load with a percentage of the price of the first item selected.
To set this up you must do the following:
1. First, find the main line item that you will be selecting to load inside of the task. Along the top of the software go to Item Info -> Item List. Locate the main line item that will be selected within the task and double click the item name which is listed in blue and underlined.
2. Once you are inside of the item detail, scroll down and you will see 2 options near the bottom right hand corner. Those options are "Companion Item" and "Companion Item Factor". Select the "Companion Item", This is the item that will auto load onto the task when the line item that we are inside of, is selected. Next, you must set the "Companion Item Factor". This is the percent that you want the software to multiple the main line items price by.
IMPORTANT - you MUST input as a percentage, for example if you want to have the companion item multiply the main items price by 5 % then you would input .05. IF you input 5, the system will interpret this as 500%.
3. After you have added the proper percentage, click out of that area and you will get a popup that says, "Would you like to update this companion factor for all items that use this company item?". If you say YES the system will update all other main line items that use this companion item with the same percentage. If you say NO it will only update this one "line items" percentage. Make sure you click the Close button on that item detail to save these changes.
4. Now you are ready to apply this in a task. Go into any task and click on the line items tab. Select the main line item that you used in Step1 and you will see that the "Companion Item" automatically loads into the task. You will also notice that the "Companion Items" price is, in this instance 5% of the main line items price. If you up the QTY of the main line item, the Companion line items price will move up appropriately.
