MapPoint – How to Correct a Common Problem

Introduction (Please Read):
The purpose of this document is to assist you with common errors with Microsoft MapPoint that you may receive. Sometimes MapPoint has to be re-registered in the registry to get it to work properly with 3rd party software.

You are most likely to run into this problem after an upgrade if you are using MapPoint 2006.
When you try to map properties you may get a series of error screens.

Solution Steps:

1) Close Realhound® Live!2) To fix, select Start->Run

2) Enter the following: c:\windows\system32\regsvr32.exe "c:\program files\microsoft mappoint\mappointcontrol.ocx"

**Note: If the mappointcontrol.ocx file is not located in a file called “microsoftmappoint” this fix will not work. You must locate the file using Windows Search function.

In this case, you will adjust the command line from:
c:\windows\system32\regsvr32.exe "c:\program files\microsoft mappoint\mappointcontrol.ocx"
TO
c:\windows\system32\regsvr32.exe "c:\program files\microsoft mappoint2006\mappointcontrol.ocx"

4) Press OK and try to use MapPoint with the program.
